Information Sessions
Department of State
On January 7, 2009, a group of LGSB students attended a very informative information session on “Careers with the Department of State.” Brian Flora, Diplomat-in-Residence for the State Department discussed Foreign Service careers and provided information on the testing and application process. The Department of State is currently recruiting for students with backgrounds traditionally associated with diplomacy such as history, political science, international relations and economics, but also those with backgrounds in business, finance/accounting, management, and information systems. If you were unable to attend this event but are interested in a career with the State Department contact Brian Flora, Diplomat-in-Residence, at florabm@uic.edu.
Bosch Corporation
On December 9, 2008, Bosch Corporation hosted an information session to a group of LGSB students interested in their Marketing and Finance Rotational Management Program. The event was hosted by Amrit Sandhu, Human Resources Manager for Bosch. Several Vice Presidents and Directors addressed the group to explain the program and answer questions about the company. The students were also given a brief tour of their corporate headquarters. If you will be graduating this year and are interested in a Marketing or Finance Rotational Management Program at Bosch Corporation, contact John Karras jkarras@uic.edu. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
Career Services
Graduation Requirement
All full-time MBA and joint degree candidates are required to inform LGSB Career Services on their job search status as they enter their last term before graduation. The job search status consists of either actively seeking a full-time position or not seeking due to the following reasons:
*You are company sponsored or already employed
*You are continuing your education
*You are postponing your job search
*You are starting a new business
*You are not seeking due to other reasons
This notification will assist Career Services in identifying graduating students who require job search assistance along with meeting the GMAC requirement of tracking graduating full-time MBA students for placement statistics. These statistics are an important factor in the ranking of MBA programs. If you require job search assistance, contact John Karras, Director, LGSB Career Services jkarras@uic.edu or (312) 996.2614 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
